Biogas boiler is a type of newly-developing gas fired boiler. Biogas is the mixture of gases produced by the biological breakdown of organic compounds in the absence of oxygen. Any organic waste such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste can be anaerobically digested to produce biogas. Biogas mainly consists of methane (the source of energy within the fuel) and carbon dioxide, small amount of nitrogen, hydrogen and sulphur.

Introduction to the biogas boiler user

The final user is a food ingredients producer specializing in manufacturing high quality tapioca, sago and corn starch. They turn these foodstuffs into starch and other derivatives, which have various applications in food processing and industrial uses. Tapioca starch is a starch extracted from cassava root, whilst sago starch is generated from starch drawn from the pith of sago palm tree. Corn starch is derived from the corn grain. In addition to producing starch, it also generates other derivative by-products including germ meal, fiber feed, and gluten feed meal. The steam boiler output steam parameter is 8ton/h, 1.25 MPa, 194℃.

Biogas boiler operates in Indonesia

The most common use of biogas is in a biogas boiler to produce either process steam or hot water. The biogas boiler does not differ greatly from the steam boiler which run on natural gas. However, the combustion equipment (refers to the burner) does need to be tailored to fit the specification of biogas on that particular site. If there is insufficient biogas to produce the required amount of steam, the biogas can be fired simultaneously with other fuel like natural gas or oil. Moreover, burning biogas and oil at the same time will reduce NOx emission. The burner control system will measure the amount of incoming biogas and adjust the air flow to ensure the correct ratio of air to fuel. This will allow the biogas boiler to operate at maximum efficiency as the methane concentration of the fuel changes.
